Iris refused lunch Saturday, then missed her nap, (long story involving Tom accidently bumping Iris's head on the ceiling while carrying her upstairs asleep) followed by a full evening at a birthday party where she ate only cake and the olives off the pizza=a grumpy, exhausted Iris (or as she has been saying lately "I am a grumpy old troll") Two hours at our new favorite waterpark this morning and she was out within minutes on the way home.

Much needed nap!
Belated Valentine's Day Entry
Tom and I don't subscribe to the commercialism of Valentine's Day (no offense intended if this is your favorite day). Expecting no romance I took Iris to a local Mardi Gras festival while Tom did manly things in our basement. For a total of $10 we played games, did crafts, ate popcorn, pizza, candy, did face painting, ate more candy, went in a gigantic bounce house and left with prizes! I think this is the best deal in Northeast! We enjoyed spending time with Iris's friend Elayna and also running into her cousin Liam there!

Hungry Planet Exhibit
Following the all American morning at McDonalds, we had a lovely afternoon exploring an exhibit at the Bell Museum all about foods of the world. I recommend checking it out! Hopefully Soren, the very bossy boy telling Iris she was loading her grocery basket incorrectly will not be there when you go.
McDonalds Playland
Desperate for activity 5 months into cold weather (I go back to October) my friend Kristin and I took our girls to a global favorite - the McDonald's Playland. It seemed like it would have been a huge success - Iris climbed immediately to the top of the enormous structure, through tunnels and found herself near the ceiling trapped in a glass dome looking about 20 feet down at her mother. Seconds later I heard the loudest screams and a very angry and scared Iris begging for her mother to come get her, which I might say is NOT an easy feat for any adult (the space is small, made for children 8 and under, not adults, especially pregnant women!) So it took me several minutes to reach her, by the time I found my way through the maze of tubes she was covered in tears and asking to go home. Thankfully her friend Anna came and Iris enjoyed watching Anna climb the playland while sitting safely on her mother's lap eating french fries.
Little Painter
The children's museum remains a popular place for us as well as most other local families to go on winter weekends. Iris had fun with her friend, Syon, there recently. Within an hour of the museum opening on any given weekend morning, the place is a madhouse and the only area we could find some respite was the art room which thankfully Iris loves.
